AFR
Appointed New VP of Engineering
Hong Kong, Sept. 6, 2007 - Advanced
Fiber Resources (AFR), a company specializing in high power
handling, fiber optic devices and polarization maintaining devices,
appoints Dr. Guojiang Hu as its Vice President of Engineering.
Prior to joining AFR, Dr. Hu was Director
of New Product Introduction at Optoplex, a Fremont, California-based
company. Before that, Dr. Hu was Vice President of Engineering
at Oplink Communications (NASDAQ: OPLK), a Fremont, California-based
leading fiber optic company. Prior to Oplink, Dr. Hu held
various engineering management positions with JDSU/E-Tek Dynamics.
Dr. Hu designed the first high power version
isolator and co-designed the first circulator at Kaifa Technology,
a Sunnyvale, California-based fiber optic company, over eleven
years ago. Most recently, he developed DPSK demodulator based
on Michelson interferometer and 90 degree hybrid (mixer) for
coherent detector when he worked for Optoplex.
“Dr. Hu is well recognized in the fiber
optic component industry,” said Dr. X.L. Wang, CEO of AFR.
“AFR will significantly expand its product portfolio under
Dr. Hu’s engineering leadership.”

Mr. Hu received his Ph.D. degree in Laser Engineering in Tianjin
University, China, and RTM, Turin, Italy.
Dr. Hu translated Prof. G.P. Agrawal’s
Nonlinear Fiber Optics into Chinese, and it has become one
of the most important textbooks in China for nonlinear optics.
Dr. Hu published more than 10 papers in technical journals.
